Allbirds opens new store in Carlsbad, California

Sustainable footwear and apparel brand Allbirds announced on Friday the opening of a new retail store and community center in Carlsbad, California. 

Located at 1923 Calle Barcelona, the new 2,810 square foot space stays true to the brand’s sustainable ethos with elements from the natural world, such as custom wood try-on chairs and displays, and uniquely shaped mirrors. 

Likewise, customers will find displays around the shop that call attention to the merino wool, sugarcane, tree, and other eco-friendly materials that its products are made of — a feature that is found in a number of its retail locations. 

The new location also includes nods to the local community with a store-specific pin featuring the Yellowthroat Warbler bird, a special Bird of Paradise shopping bag, as well as a service desk made of FSC-certified wood. 

The store marks the San Francisco-based brand’s second store in the San Diego area and 37th globally, with locations across North America, Asia, and Europe. Earlier this month, it opened its first store in Charlotte. 

Allbirds also launched a new resale platform, ReRun, in partnership with recommerce firm, Trove. The program launched in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City, and is expected to expand to additional retail locations nationally.
