American fashion is continuing to get involved in the Asian market. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has signed a partnership with Singapore Fashion Week, which begins next Wednesday, May 13, running until the 17th.

As part of the agreement, several American designers will take to the runways, including Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA, who will kick off the week with her fall collection, as well as the Thai-American designer Thakoon Panichgul. Victoria Beckham will also participate, closing the week.

"The partnership with Singapore Fashion Week is another element in the CFDA’s mission to strengthen the influence and success of American Fashion Designers in the global economy. The program will not just bring our designers to an important market, but also educate Singapore’s local talent about the American industry," said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb on the organization’s website.

The upcoming edition of Singapore Fashion Week (SFW) will also mark the launch of Fashion Futures, an initiative designed to showcase young local designers, with three finalists to receive one-on-one sessions from members of the CFDA and the opportunity to travel to the United States to become familiar with the American fashion industry.
