Hollywood star turned menswear designer Antonio Banderas will release his first collection in August 2016 in collaboration with Danish clothing brand Selected Homme.

“As an actor I have always maintained a close relationship with fashion and the idea of creating a personality from a particular style. Both on camera or on stage, in a past or a contemporary story, clothing becomes especially important in creating an identity and that's something I've always known,” said the actor in a statement.

Banderas chose the Danish fashion company Selected Homme because it “provides consumers with high quality products at an affordable price. For me it is important to create something that is of quality and affordable,” he commented.

"Sometimes I have to walk a red carpet, which requires me to wear a tuxedo, sometimes I want to wear something daring but comfortable, such as jeans and a leather jacket. And other days I prefer to wear something in-between, such as a blazer with chinos,” added Banderas, who enrolled in a bespoke short-course program at London’s Central Saint Martins earlier this year.

Owner of a perfume business with Spanish group Puig, Banderas says it is vital for the collection to be developed calmly, and that his clothes will convey “subtle signs and messages”, revealing the efforts made behind every garment.
