Canadian performance outerwear and equipment retailer Arc’teryx unveiled on Friday a Manhattan store featuring a newly rebranded micro-store concept, as it continues its retail expansion in the United States.

Dubbed 'Arc’type', the concept store is centered around the brand’s most renowned designs and replaces its previous 'Icon Stores' concept with existing NYC locations in West Village and Flatiron. The smaller 850 square-foot store concept introduces the Arc’type curated selection, which includes 22 of the brand’s most noteworthy items.

The assortment includes Arc’teryx’s very first jacket designed over 20 years ago, the Alpha SV, as well as the brand’s first women’s parka, the Patera Parka, which has sold out every season since it was introduced in 2012. With the assortment, guests who are new to the brand will quickly get a sense of what makes Arc’teryx a leader in performance outerwear, while returning guests will find their favorite and most celebrated designs easily.

“Like our products, the name Arc’type is uniquely ours. The products available at these stores truly represent who we are - the designs are perfect archetypes of the brand,” said Delaney Schweitzer, chief commercial officer, Arc’teryx.

“From industry-leading innovative products to award winners and your personal favourites, these items have been specifically selected to help introduce guests to Arc’teryx and exemplify the most appreciated and versatile products.”

This latest store, which opened across from Central Park on the Upper West Side, joins four other Arc’teryx New York stores, including Arc’teryx Factory Outlet in Woodbury, the Arc’teryx brand store in Soho, and the two Arc’type stores in the West Village and the Flatiron District.

It marks the fifth store in the New York Area and the 21st retail store in the United States.

“Our goal has always been to enable people to get outside by building the best gear possible,” added Schweitzer.

“By increasing our retail presence and engaging with local ambassadors, Arc’teryx is working to build strong outdoor communities that bring people together and encourage them to spend time outside. Whether it’s participating in an Arc’teryx clinic or taking a walk in Central Park, the Arc’type stores carry versatile essentials for all types of outdoor experiences.”

Last month, Arc’teryx opened a new store in the coveted Santana Row community of San Jose. The brand is also distributed through more than 3,000 retail locations worldwide, including over 80 branded stores.
