Avon appoints Dronacharya Chakraborty as GM for India

Cosmetics maker Avon Products Inc. has appointed Dronacharya Chakraborty as the new General Manager for India. The new GM began his role on Thursday, September 20. Chakraborty will report to Bill Rahn, Global Vice President, Asia Pacific (APAC).

India is an important market for Avon and the company is looking to strengthen its position to increase its market share in the country. The new GM will be responsible for expansion and growth in the Indian market.
 
Commenting on Dronacharya’s appointment, Jan Zijderveld, Chief Executive Officer of Avon in a statement said, "We are delighted to welcome a proven leader of Drona's caliber to our Asia Pacific team. Drona brings a deep understanding of and familiarity with the large and growing Indian market. I'm confident he'll be an asset to the team as we work to strengthen our capabilities to ensure we deliver on our plans for growth in the region."

Chakrabory, added, "I am excited to join Avon to work with Bill and his team to advance expansion and growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Avon's strong brand recognition represents a compelling opportunity, both globally and in the vibrant Indian market. I look forward to working with the team to capture these opportunities."
 
Chakraborty has over 20 years of experience in the cosmetics industry and joins Avon from PM International India Pvt Ltd, where he was GM of sales.
