Aug 18, 2016

The Board of Directors of Barnes & Noble announced on Tuesday the departure of its Chief Executive Officer, Ronald D. Boire.

According to a news statement “the Board of Directors determined that Mr. Boire was not a good fit for the organization and that it was in the best interests of all parties for him to leave the company.”

Boire joined Barnes & Noble as CEO just last September. Prior to joining the retail bookseller, Boire was President and Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors at Sears Canada.

The company says that due to the circumstances its Executive Chairman, Leonard Riggio, who was scheduled to retire in September, will postpone his retirement until a later date.

An executive search for a new CEO has now begun. In the meantime, other members of the executive management team will assume Boire’s duties and the company will continue to execute its previously announced strategic initiatives.
