Bode opens Los Angeles store

Published
Feb 14, 2022

Luxury fashion brand Bode has opened its debut store in Los Angeles this month, marking the emerging label's second location in its native America.

Located at 7007 Melrose Avenue, the Los Angeles store measures 3,000 square feet and houses the New York brand's menswear, as well as accessories.

Inside the new Bode store in Los Angeles - Bode

The up-and-coming Bode, helmed by namesake designer Emily Adams Bode, has followed a steady trajectory of growth in the last six years, since its inception in 2016.

In 2018, Bode staged its first Paris Fashion Week show, placing it in the international fashion limelight, before opening its first retail location in its native New York City, some six months later. In 2021, the CFDA named Bode menswear designer of the year, beating out Amiri's Mike Amiri, Telfar's Telfar Clemens, Thom Browne and Fear of God's Jerry Lorenzo.

Now, in 2022, ther designer, known for her use of upcycled textiles, vintage fabrics and resistance to overconsumption, has headed to the U.S west coast.

Enlisting once again Aaron Aujla from retail design firm Green River Project, who also created Bode's New York retail concept, the new Los Angeles store evokes a time-capsule of another era with walnut cabinetry, exposed wood beams, recessed archways, hand-painted signs, and upholstered benches.

The Old American-esque layout even hosts a dodo bird skeleton, as well as a giant clam shell and other paraphernalia, in an ode to Bode's nostalgic design and preservation of timeless style.

There are separate rooms for each of Bode's categories, including shoes and accessories, and a private outdoor area.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Bode graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York and Eugene Lang College with a BA/BFA dual-degree in menswear design and philosophy. She spent time working for brands such as Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs, before launching her namesake brand in July 2016 with a menswear collection.
