According to the unions, there was extensive support among the employees of Italian luxury lingerie label La Perla on Monday for the strike which began last Tuesday against the prospect of some 100 job cuts at the company’s Bologna headquarters.

The unions which organised the strike stated in a press release that 100% of the employees at La Perla’s headquarters took part in the protest.

The long-established lingerie label announced last week that it plans to cut from 100 to 120 jobs, about one quarter of the 430 people working at its Bologna headquarters.

A crisis meeting will be held on Tuesday between representatives of the company and the regional authorities.

La Perla was founded in 1954 by Ada Masotti. In February 2018, it was acquired by Dutch investment company Sapinda Holding from the Pacific Global Management (PGM) investment fund.

The latter owned La Perla since 2013, having bought it for €69 million at an auction following bankruptcy proceedings.
