Brooks Brothers Group has added a jewelry brand, Alexis Bittar, to its Carolee division, according to a report in WWD. Owned by the Italian Claudio Del Vecchio, the Brooks Brothers Group, whose portfolio includes the historic New York clothing brand, had already in 2001 purchased Carolee jewelry, a brand founded in the 1970s.

Over the years, the brand has transformed into the group’s jewelry division, overseeing its own brand Carolee as well as jewelry collections under license for other outside brands as well as Brooks Brothers. And now it will be adding the label launched by the American designer Alexis Bittar in 1990.

No details were given about the transaction except that Brooks Brothers Group acquired Alexis Bittar through Carolee LLC, from the founding designer Alexis Bittar and TSG Consumer Partners LLC, which has owned 50% of the brand since 2012. Carolee's current president Jill Maier will oversee this new group brand.

“Our strategy is to maintain a fully owned but independent jewelry division, housing both owned (Carolee, Alexis Bittar) and licensed brands,” said Matteo Del Vecchio, chief administrative office for Brooks Brothers Group.
