Burlington wins performance fabric contract for army uniforms

Burlington Industries LLC announced Thursday that is has been awarded a $8.4 million contract to supply micro denier polyester fabrics to the US Army for use in physical training shorts. The fabrics will be produced in Burlington’s facilities in Cordova and Burlington, North Carolina.

The Army Physical Training Short features a woven polyester fabric made with Burlington’s Moisture Control System (MCS), a proprietary wicking and absorption technology.
 
“Light weight performance fabrics are one of Burlington’s core competencies,” said Burlington President Jeff Peck. “Our MCS technology foundation provides the performance needed to support the Army’s renewed emphasis on physical training. These shorts offer moisture management, durability and stain resistance, resulting in the most advanced PT uniform in the Army’s history.”

Burlington has played an integral role in the defense supply chain for over 50 years through Burlington Military. The company’s in-house Research and Development department, Burlington Labs, advance fabrications to enhance performance for troops in combat and training.
