CFDA names Pharrell Williams 2015 "fashion icon"

After Rihanna, Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman, the CFDA has this year chosen Pharrell Williams as its "fashion icon". The Fashion Awards, which are equivalent to the Oscars of American fashion, will honor the famous singer, rapper, songwriter, producer and fashion designer on June 1 with its Fashion Icon Award, recognizing individuals "whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage."

"Pharrell Williams’s unique style has earned him a reputation for being one of the world’s most recognizable trend-setters," the CFDA said in a statement. 

"If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him," said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA.
