Calvin Klein taps cast of Moonlight for campaign following the Oscars

Hot off the film’s much-buzzed win at Sunday’s Oscars Awards, Calvin Klein has unveiled that the cast of Moonlight will star in the brand's newest underwear campaign. This is Raf Simons's second campaign since taking the helm of Calvin Klein, and first featuring underwear. 

Titled “Revelation," actors Mahershala Ali, Alex Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevante Rhodes front the series of promotional  images. Ali, Sanders, and Rhodes don the brand's famous briefs for the campaign, while Hibbert, only 12 years old, wears a plain black t-shirt.

The images were styled by Olivier Rizzo, who has styled campaigns for Prada, Miu Miu, Dior, and Jil Sanders, and photographed by Willy Vanderperre, who previously shot Simons’s first campaign for Calvin Klein as well as numerous projects during Simons’s time at Dior.

This campaign references Calvin Klein ads of the 90's and early aughts, showing that while the brand may have a snazzy new creative director, the heritage of Calvin Klein is still very much present. This campaign has all the elements of a classic Calvin Klein underwear ad, from the classic black and white photographic style down to  the signature logoed brief. The series is a stark contrast from the flashy, influencer-focused #MyCalvins campaign of the last few years.
