Mar 14, 2018
Camping World has announced it is acquiring Arkansas-based RV and accessories retailer River City Recreation World. The acquisition will position Camping World for market expansion in the Southeast.
Marcus Lemonis, Chairman of Camping World Holdings said, “Our goal with this acquisition is to add more quality manufacturers and brands, increase our presence in the market and grow the workforce.”
The acquisition is in line with Camping World's growth plan for 2018, as the company expects to announce its entry into additional markets and further expand its brand presence in the US.
Last year, Camping World made several acquisitions that added camping, action sports and additional outdoor recreation categories and brands to its portfolio, and also expanded its retail footprint and e-commerce infrastructure. It acquired Erehwon Mountain Outfitters, Gander Outdoors, and Overton’s.
Brent Moody, Chief Operating Officer of Camping World Holdings said, "We will actively pursue opportunities in our existing markets over the next few years to expand market share, grow our database and add additional distribution points for our products and services."
Camping World currently has two locations in Arkansas. The acquisition will immediately add three more locations in the state. The company is based in Illinois and operates 140 retail locations in 36 states as well as online.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
