Canada Goose partners on toy to promote climate change awareness

Canadian clothing company Canada Goose has partnered with Medicom Toy's Bearbrick and Polar Bears International (PBI) for a toy to help support the environment.

Medicom Toy

A half-mirrored, half-white bear, the exclusive toy --stylized as Be@rbrick-- will drop on International Polar Bear Day, February 27, a day aimed at raising awareness of the impact of climate change on wild polar bears and their habitat.

The bear is available in three sizes: '1000%' priced at $995 CAD ($950 USD), as well as '100%' and '400%,' which are sold as a packaged set priced at $250 CAD.

The toy "brings to life the critical message that 'What Affects Them, Affects Us All' and reflects the important relationship between the survival of wild polar bears and our responsibility to help preserve their habitat for future generations," the company said.

A portion of proceeds from each bear sold will be donated to PBI to help support the organization's continued research and advocacy of polar bears--specifically, $50 CAD for every 1000% bear and $25 CAD for every 100% and 400% set.

Notably, Canada Goose's choice to encourage environmental awareness by supporting an animal charity comes at a time when its popularity with animal lovers is significantly low: in recent months, animal rights activists have spoken out against the brand, with advocates like Peta and Bill Maher accusing Canada Goose of causing the inhumane suffering of animals--specifically, coyotes and geese--in the production of their apparel.

The Canada Goose x Bearbrick collaboration will be available exclusively at canadagoose.com, select Canada Goose retail stores globally and via Hypebeast’s online retail platform, HBX.
