Set to launch as part of her spring/summer 2020 line, the Toronto-based designer, who launched her self-titled brand in 2013, will begin offering select pieces in a size run of up to 4X, while dress sizes will run to 22.

Hilary MacMillan has offered its famed feminist jackets in extended sizes for the past year and has since received numerous requests to extend the offering to seasonal collections.

"It was always our goal to expand our sizing range,” said Creative Director and Founder Hilary MacMillan, in a news statement.

“As an independent fashion brand, the timing had to be right and the consumer demand had to be there for it to be successful.”

Hilary MacMillan is following in the footsteps of both small and large brands that are venturing into the plus size market, but she can still be considered a trailblazer.

Brands like Anthropologie only zeroed in on size inclusivity earlier this year, when it debuted a range of plus-sizes for the first time through its new A+nthropologie, or APlus by Anthropologie, collection.

Likewise, Boohoo-owned fashion retailer Nasty Gal only announced the launch of its first extended size range collection in September.

The Hilary MacMillan spring/summer 2020 collection will make its debut at Toronto Fashion Week on September 3, 2020 and will go on sale March 1, 2020.
