Canadian designer Ela launches vegan leather handbag collection

Canadian handbag brand Ela is shifting its business to a more sustainable model with the launch of its first-ever vegan leather collection.

 
Set to launch September 16, the collection features ten functional handbag designs in rich autumn hues made from polyurethane vegan leather. 
 
The namesake line, launched by designer Ela Aldorsson, will start phasing out all its leather products with a goal to make sustainable and animal-safe products the new normal. By Spring 2020, all bags will also be lined with 100-percent recycled plastic bottle lining.

The collection will be sold at select retailers and on Ebay, who has partnered with Ela as the only retailer donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Canadian not-for-profit Evergreen.
 
The Ela line debuted in 2010 with a convertible leather clutch called Milck - an acronym for the essentials the a bag can carry: money, I.D., lipstick, cell, keys – and has been worn by the likes of Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.
