Mar 26, 2019
Canada’s largest designer pop-up event, Inland, is gearing-up for its 10th showcase. The spring edition will take place May 3 and 4 in Toronto at 134 Peter Street.
The shopping event, dedicated to showcasing Canadian clothing and accessories designers, will feature over 70 emerging and established Canadian brands.
Returning designers at this year’s edition will include womenswear brand Hilary MacMillan, Amanda Moss, and Elisa C-Rossow, as well as accessories brand Louve Montreal. Meanwhile, confirmed newcomers include Montreal-based footwear and accessories brand Maguire. The complete designer line-up is still yet to be announced.
A slew of independent shopping events usually pop-up across Canada at this time of year, giving space for consumers to reach independent designers across the country.
The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers will also return next month in Montreal, Gatineau and Quebec City, putting designers from Quebec right in front of consumers.
Similarly, One of a Kind, another Toronto shopping event, will kick off on Wednesday. The event, which aims to support craft and makers, will include everything from fashion accessories, to children’s clothes, to body care products from hundreds of makers. Big names from Canada’s design scene will include Eve Gravel, Marigold, and Annie 50.
The effort to promote local designers through annual and semi-annual sales events is a part of Canada’s history. Shopping events like One of a Kind have been around since 1975, while The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designer begun in 1994.
