L'Oréal Paris revives pin-up girl beauty

Once again this year, the cosmetics brand and official Cannes Film Festival sponsor has introduced a special edition makeup line for the event. The latest edition is dedicated to pin-up girls, a frequent source of inspiration for 20th-century filmmakers.
Last year, L'Oréal Paris focused on the themes of gold and light in its special Cannes collection. The mood and the look have shifted this year with "L'Or Pin-Up," a line emphasizing dazzling color, glamour and over-the-top femininity.
Obviously, one of the first names to come to mind when one thinks of pin-up culture is Marilyn Monroe, and the new makeup line pays homage to her doe eyes and luscious lips.
The cosmetics brand has placed particular emphasis on the eyes, in fact. "The 'Neo Pin-Up Girl' has lashes coated in mascara. She plays up her gaze, bats her lashes, seduces and captivates," explains L'Oréal Paris makeup artist Karim Rahman.
So, naturally, the centerpiece of the collection is the Superstar mascara (€15.90/around $17), formulated to coat the lashes and add intensity and volume. The product is to be paired with two new shades of the Color Riche L'Ombre Pure eyeshadow (Pin-Up Pink and French Riviera, €8.90/around $10 each) and the Super Liner Superstar eyeliner (€11.80/around $13).
To look stunning for the cameras, the pin-up girl of this collection combines her dark, glamorous eyes with equally dramatic lips. For a plump, shimmery and shiny pout, L'Oréal Paris offers its Color Riche Extraordinaire in Fuschia Drama (€14.90/around $16) and Color Riche in Rose Tendre (bubblegum pink) and Carmin Saint-Germain (crimson) (€11.40/around $12).
And a pin-up girl wouldn't be one without her manicure, so this special Cannes Film Festival collection also includes vibrant shades of the Color Riche nail polish including cobalt blue, golden yellow and pink (€5.80/around $6).
