Chanel brings Métiers d'Art back to Paris for next show in December

After jaunts to Hamburg and New York, the Chanel fashion house will return to Paris to show its Métiers d'Art 2019-2020 collection. The show is slated for December 5 in the French capital.

After taking the fashion world around the globe with its Métiers d'Art shows, the French fashion house is bringing it home to Paris this December. This forthcoming collection -- designed, as ever, to showcase the specialist crafts and skills involved in creating haute-couture fashion -- will be the first designed entirely by Virginie Viard, who took over creative directorship of the fashion house after Karl Lagerfeld's death in February.

Chanel is yet to announce the exact location of the Métiers d'Art 2019-2020 show. The Grand Palais is one possible option -- a firm favorite for the fashion house when showing its ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. The Ritz -- a place dear to Coco Chanel -- is another possibility, the hotel having previously hosted the label's Métiers d'Art show in 2016. However, Chanel could also start a new chapter in its history by showing the collection in an entirely new setting.

Last year, the French fashion house showed its Métiers d'Art collection at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met). The show was largely inspired by Ancient Egypt.
