Chip Foster, the original co-founder of Canadian skate and surf lifestyle brand Chip & Pepper, has officially bought back the brand he helped launch in 1987.
The brand first launched under the ownership of Chip and his twin brother, Pepper Foster, with Chip & Pepper 'wet wear'-- or surfing apparel -- and soon grew to offer a range of clothing and premium denim. Later, the two founders launched a TV series on NBC in the 1990s, which included sketch comedy, interviews and cartoons.
Described by the brand as "new-age vintage with a carefree attitude," the Chip & Pepper brand anchors itself on its denim offering and Southern California aesthetic. Now, the brand says it has armed itself with Foster's supervision, as well as a team of fashion industry veterans, a strong executive team, and a licensing fleet to successfully re-introduce itself to the market.
"The Chip & Pepper brand has defined culture, but it has also defined my entire life," Foster said. "This classic brand is ready to steal back the hearts of many long lost fans, and they're taking the newer age with them...Sometimes staying as true as possible to a brand's heritage is the most powerful way to connect with die-hard fans on an emotional level."
Looking forward, the brand said it plans to strengthen its relaunch with new retail partnership opportunities, as well as new manufacturing and licensing partnership opportunities.
