Chloé announces departure of Natacha Ramsay-Levi

In February, FashionNetwork.com reported that Richemont appeared to be seeking a successor to Natacha Ramsay-Levi. One health crisis and two lockdowns later, Chloé, a label belonging to luxury giant Richemont, has announced the departure of its creative director, at the head of design for the past four years.

Officially, Ramsay-Levi explained that it was a decision made with regards to the progression of her career. "During these four years of collaboration, I had the great privilege - supported by the Chloé design teams - of being able to express my own creativity, whilst recentering the label towards the vision of (Chloé founder) Gaby Aghion, promoting intellectual freedom and the fundamental values which unite us all. I would like to thank Chloé for this opportunity. I am also grateful for their support in my decision to leave my role," she said in a press release.

"I am doing so with a feeling of hope for the development of this great fashion house and its renewed commitment to a meaningful and powerful femininity. Over these last few months, throughout the economic, social and health difficulties that we have faced, I have reflected on the changes that I would like to see in our industry and how to better align my own creative, intellectual and emotional values with them. This is why I now imagine my future differently, and wish to pursue new opportunities."

Chloé CEO Riccardo Bellini thanked Ramsay-Levi for her contribution to the label, remarking upon her "creativity and vision (which) contributed to a strong and significant new chapter in our story."

A vision which, however, according to sources consulted by FashionNetwork.com earlier this year, did not bring a significant enough return in terms of sales. The house will be looking for this key new criterion in its next creative director, and have said that it will communicate the new appointment shortly.
