Chunky sandals, fringes and Hawaiian shirts: the festival fashion trends set to rule the fields this summer

As the Glastonbury Festival brings together music lovers in the UK this weekend, we enter another season of colorful festival fashion. Global fashion search platform Lyst has analyzed the national data to pinpoint what it believes will be the biggest trends on the music field this summer.

Fringes and chainmail
Fringe was a major trend at this year's Coachella Festival in the US, and it seems the movement has made its way across the Atlantic just in time for summer. According to Lyst data, demand for fringe pieces has increased 146% year on year. Chainmail details also promise to be a big hit, with searches up 32% over the past 30 days.

Hawaiian shirts
They may be more commonly associated with men over a certain age, but Hawaiian shirts are making a comeback among the girls. Searches for women's Hawaiian shirts have increased 39% over the last two months, so expect to see plenty of loud flower power at festivals near you this year.

Practical, chunky sandals
Comfort is key when dancing all day (and all night) long, and luckily it is also very on point this season. Searches for "chunky flat sandals" have risen by 60% since the beginning of April, and searches for Teva sandals -- known for their practical, utilitarian style -- have increased by 38% over the last week in the UK.

Neons
Neon hues have been trending for some time now, and the look is going strong in the UK, where searches for neon fashion have shot up by 91% this month. Neon bikini, bodysuit and t-shirts are proving particularly popular.

Tie-dye
Finally, this year will be all about tie-dyed pieces, if the data is anything to go by -- searches have been rising since January, with an additional 21% over the last two weeks.
