Condé Nast enters e-commerce

Published
Dec 10, 2013

Condé Nast – the publishing giant that owns publications such as Vogue, Glamour and Vanity Fair in 27 countries – has announced the creation of an e-commerce division, headed by Franck Zayan, former e-commerce director at Galeries Lafayette. Zayan will take on his role as president at the division from January 6th.

Zayan will work from the company’s London office and will report to a board consisting of Condé Nast’s CEO Charles Townsend and President Robert Sauerberg, along with Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and CEO of Condé Nast International, and Nicholas Coleridge, president of Condé Nast International.

E-commerce veteran and Sarenza co-founder Zayan will be tasked with “exploring and developing ideas which can serve our readers, users, advertising clients and business partners,” Condé Nast said in a statement.

Over recent months, the publishing group has taken an active interest in e-commerce activity and has taken minority stakes in prominent e-commerce businesses such as Farfetch and Paris-based Vestiarie Collective.
