Converse on Monday unveiled the new Converse All Star Modern, the first in a series of updates to some of the brand’s iconic sneakers.
The Converse All Star Modern is a new silhouette inspired by the brand’s 1920 All Star sneaker and basketball heritage. The sneaker collection includes the Hi and Ox silhouettes with circular knit uppers, a neoprene split tongue and lining, a TPU-fused overlaid toecap and the Nike Hyperfuse contoured full-length Phylon outsole. The Hi and Ox sneakers will be available in Black, Action Red, Lucid Green, Soar Blue and White.
To introduce the collection, Converse will also release a limited edition Converse All Star Modern HTM sneaker, designed by HTM, the creative team consisting of Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker. The new sneaker marks as the first time the HTM team has designed footwear outside of the Nike brand.
The Converse All Star Modern collection follows the brand’s Chuck Taylor All Star II sneaker, the second iteration of the nearly 100-year old Chuck Taylor All Star that launched in July 2015. In February, the brand launched a Chuck Taylor All Star II knit collection that was inspired by music festivals.
The Converse All Star Modern collection will be available on Thursday, June 16 and the Converse All Star Modern HTM sneaker will be available on Thursday, June 9. The collection will range in price from $130 to $140 and the HTM sneaker will be $180.
