Coty's president of luxury brands to step down

American beauty conglomerate Coty Inc. announced on Friday that its president of luxury brands, Simona Cattaneo, will be stepping away from her role.

Cattaneo, who first joined the New York-based cosmetics group as chief marketing officer in July 2016, will remain at Coty through summer 2021. According to the company, her successor will be announced in due course.

Prior to joining Coty, the executive spent close to four years as senior vice president for beauty at Burberry. Her previous experience also includes stints as general manager of the makeup business unit at Parfums Christian Dior and international brand president at L’Oréal, a role that she held for 13 years.

During Cattaneo’s tenure as president of luxury brands at Coty, the company doubled down on efforts to expand its prestige portfolio, successfully integrating Kylie Jenner’s beauty business, Kylie Cosmetics, and completing the acquisition of a stake in Kim Kardashian West’s KKW in January of this year.

“I want to sincerely thank Simona for her leadership, commitment and passion over the last five years,” said Coty CEO Sue Y. Nabi in a release. “She played a key role in building our prestige brands portfolio – expanding our presence in the make-up space, and strengthening our relationships with Coty’s licensors, as well as successfully integrating Kim and Kylie’s beauty businesses into our portfolio.”

“Having joined Coty in 2016 as Chief Marketing Officer, it has been a fantastic experience to work with so many inspirational people as I have progressed through the organization,” commented Cattaneo. “Coty is fortunate to have passionate and dedicated staff throughout business and strong relationships with our licensors. As I move on from Coty to pursue other interests, I’m delighted to see the business positioned for future success.”
