Criminal Damage moves into men's footwear, women's to come later

London-based street fashion brand Criminal Damage has moved into the footwear category with a new collection “showcasing the crossover between athleisure and streetwear”.

The first drop includes five designs of sneakers and sliders and will be followed by two more drops in the next two months. The collection will include 13 pieces with prices starting at £25.

It’s not the brand’s first foray into shoes with a footwear range having been launched as far back as 2013. But it said the reintroduction of the category comes as a result of “customer and retailer demand”.

Company exec Monty Aytan said that having taken the decision to relaunch footwear, it took two years to finalise.

“We felt that the footwear market had been stagnant,” he explained, “with big sportswear companies dominating the market. We wanted to showcase premium, considered design that would still be affordable for our customers as we look to bridge the gap between athleisure and streetwear. This makes our footwear a versatile choice, as the athleisure market continues to be popular after lockdown”.

The company is focusing on men’s shoes for now but hinted at a move into the women’s market “in the near future”.

The shoes are widely available via Very in the UK, and Snipes and Zalando for European customers, as well as the Criminal Damage webstore.
