CVS to launch K-beauty section

Published

CVS is the latest retailer to try and capitalize off the burgeoning K-beauty trend, announcing Wednesday the pharmacy chain will launch an in-store K-beauty section.

Starting April, over 2,100 CVS locations across America will offer K-beauty sections.

The section will be curated by Alicia Yoon, the founder of K-beauty website Peach & Lily. Yoon has also curated the K-beauty sections of Barneys and Target, as well as the Peach & Lily store-in-stores located in Macy’s.

The beauty expert will select just over 100 cult-followed products for the new CVS in store boutique. This includes a cookies & cream-scented hand cream by The Saem, a lip balm by Holika Holika, and a juice cleanse mask by Ariul.

There is no doubt that K-beauty is taking America by storm, with dedicated K-beauty sections already open in Nordstrom, Macy’s, Barneys, Ulta, Target, and Walmart.

When K-beauty first started gaining the interest of American consumers, Korean beauty products were only available by order from Korea, with customers facing expensive shipping fees. There’s no sign of the Korean movement slowing down either – Euromonitor has predicted that by the year 2019, 80% of all global skincare revenue will come from Korea.
