Gen Art, the talent incubator that launches new talent in film, fashion, music and art, on Monday announced Daniel Silverstain as the winner of the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion competition.

Daniel Silverstain SS16

New York-based fashion designer, Silverstain won the competition over Ada + Nik, a London-based contemporary menswear brand by Ada Zanditon and Nik Thakkar, and Australian fashion label, House of Cannon by Annie Cannon-Brookes. Silverstain aims to innovate with his Retro Futurism inspired collections. He explores architecture and art of the mid-20th century for inspiration and aspires to present an optimistic outlook on the future with every collection. He presented his spring 2016 collection.

Silverstain is awarded with a year-long incubation program with Gen Art to accelerate his career, including strategy, financial, and marketing and sales resources. The finalists of the competition will be afforded retail opportunities through Gen Art’s New York and Los Angeles showrooms and at major trade shows.

The Fresh Faces in Fashion competition launched in 1995 and has become the largest and most credible presentation of rising fashion designers at New York Fashion Week. Gen Art holds a global call for nominations to 50 of the world’s top fashion universities, colleges and educational programs. Each institution nominates their fashion alumni that could benefit the most from the competition.

This year’s competitors were judged by a fashion jury, which included Christina Neault, a programming fashion consultant to Pier 59 and former IMG executive; fashion TV personality and host, Robert Verdi; actress, model and lifestyle blogger, Lydia Hearst; and Gen Art Fresh Faces alumnus, Duckie Brown and George Wayne.
