David's Bridal has announced the appointment of James Marcum as its chief executive officer.

In a press release, the bridal retailer said that Marcum is expected to join the company this week, and will also join the David's Bridal board of directors.
As he steps into his new role, Marcum replaces Tom Lynch, the company's interim CEO.
Christine Pope, board chair of David's Bridal and a senior vice president at Oaktree Capital Management, L.P, commented: "[Marcum] has considerable experience leading retail and consumer companies through transitions, resetting strategy, building teams, and positioning companies for growth.
"He is an excellent leader with tremendous operating and financial experience and is passionate about leading teams and companies to achieve their full potential."
Marcum brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the retail, consumer and services industry, with significant experience leading companies in transition and repositioning them for growth. Previously, Marcum served as the CEO, COO and CFO of companies including Central Parking, Circuit City, Hollywood Entertainment, Stage Stores and Marshalls, among others. Most recently, Marcum served as senior operating partner at Apollo Management, an American private equity firm.
In addition, the new CEO has previously served on the boards of both public and private companies, and currently serves on the board of directors of Iconix Brand Group, Inc.
Since filing for bankruptcy in November of 2018, David's Bridal has been on a path of re-structuring and growth, emerging from the Chapter 11 filing in January of 2019 and naming a new board of directors in March.
