David's Bridal names new chief merchandising officer

David's Bridal announced on Tuesday the appointment of Nancy Viall as chief merchandising officer.

In this role, Nancy will oversee the company's merchandising, product development and designer licensing strategies, as well as serve on the executive leadership team.

She will report directly to David's Bridal CEO, James Marcum.

"Nancy is a seasoned retail executive and merchant who is just as passionate about the customer as we are. She is a magnetic leader who has driven continuous top tier results and has seen significant achievement in rebuilding and repositioning brands," said Marcum, in a news statement.

"Nancy has a proven track record for delivering results and we're thrilled to have her on our team as we continue to grow and build on the success we've established over the past 70 years."

Viall has over 25 years of merchandising and product development experience. Most recently, in her role as chief merchandising officer at Avenue Stores, she was responsible for increasing market share, improving business structures and driving new growth initiatives. 

Prior to Avenue Stores, Viall was a long-standing member of the Talbots' leadership team, where she spent 20 years in roles of increasing seniority, starting as a merchant and rising to senior vice president and general merchandise manager.

The bridal retailer has named several strategic changes to its leadership team over the last few months. In January, it named Nevin Shetty to the newly created role of chief partnership officer, and Lia Madonna to the role of head of partnership services. 

Meanwhile, in late 2019, it appointed Callie Canfield to the newly created role of vice president, marketing and communications, and appointed Kelly Cook as its CMO.
