French sports retailer Decathlon is seeking to expand into Mexico with a 7 million euro investment, or $7.64 million at current exchange rates.
The company’s first store on Mexican soil will be based in Querétaro and will spread across 43,000 square feet. The opening was approved by Francisco Domínguez Servién, governor of the area.
The French group also registered in Colombia at the end of 2015, so further operations in the continent could follow soon.
Decathlon ended 2014 with a turnover of $9.12 billion, representing a 10.6% growth on the previous year.
It currently has over 930 stores worldwide and more than 60,000 employees.
