By the morning of the second day, Philippe Pasquet, the president of Première Vision SA, could already confirm for FashionMag that the launch had shown some very good initial figures, "significantly higher than we had on the same day to Paris." Widely surpassing the nearly 3,000 visitors in May 2013, the denim event’s organizer should be happy in having made the right choice by picking up its bags and heading for the Catalan capital.

And the enthusiasm shown by participants, exhibitors and visitors was obvious. While the second day was somewhat calmer than the first, it was at least as busy as the most attended day of the Parisian edition, according to several company representatives. Even before the show, positive results from the move were clear with a 5% increase in the number of exhibitors, bringing the total number to about a hundred companies.

Spain unsurprisingly represented a significant portion of attendance at 28% of the total, while strong growth was seen in terms of buyers from Germany (34%) and Italy (+32%), and to a lesser extent those from UK (+5). Nordic and Scandinavian countries also seemed to have taken a greater interest in the trade show (+8%), Norway even showing a 43% increase. Outside Europe, the organizers have emphasized the North American presence (33%), including an increase of 24% for the United States.

As for Mediterranean countries, Tunisia and Morocco have respectively accounted for 13% and 4% of attendance. “Turkey has especially turned out in large numbers - it’s a country that’s passionate about jeanswear, making its presence felt here with a 68% increase in attendance,” says the organizer. "Besides many brands that have come, there are also a lot of major manufacturers, who are numerous and powerful in these countries.” Asian visitors in turn accounted for 17% of the total. China, Japan, India and Pakistan recorded a 4% increase.

The next edition of Denim by PV will be held in Barcelona on November 19 - 20, its increasing popularity as a result of the move having been made plain. It should also be remembered, however that Kingpins, another denim show coming from the US, organized a very successful first European edition in early May in Amsterdam.
