Dermablend reveals that it is now cruelty-free, and will soon be vegan

Makeup brand Dermablend Professional has turned its back on animal testing to become certified cruelty-free.

The L'Oreal-owned beauty label has been awarded the status by the animal rights organization PETA, and is proving its commitment to animal welfare even further, by announcing that, from now on, it will cut out animal-derived ingredients from its formulas to ensure that they are 100% vegan. The vegan-friendly products will go on sale later this year.

"People are looking for brands that align with their values and our goal is to empower our consumers with the confidence and knowledge they need to make the best decisions for their beauty routines," said Malena Higuera, General Manager at Dermablend Professional, in a statement. "Joining PETA's list of cruelty-free brands is a clear symbol of Dermablend Professional's commitment to animal welfare and a world without animal testing."

The PETA cruelty-free logo will appear on Dermablend Professional merchandising and advertising as of this month.

Dermablend, which was founded in 1981 by the US dermatologist Dr. Craig Roberts, is known for combining makeup and dermatology to come up with multifaceted skincare and cosmetics.

The company does not sell its products in China, which requires cosmetics to be tested on animals by law. In becoming certified cruelty-free, it follows in the footsteps of several major beauty brands, including the Unilever-owned skincare and haircare giant Dove, which was awarded cruelty-free status by PETA last year, and the Coty brand Covergirl, which received the same status from Cruelty Free International last November.
