Jun 17, 2013
Spanish brand Desigual currently does 56% of its sales in Europe with 22% in Spain, 18% in France and 16% in Italy. With revenue of over 700 million euros, the brand currently has 350 stores and 13,000 points of sale in 109 countries. Despite this European success, Desigual is looking to cash-in on new economic powers to further push growth. Manel Jadraque, chief executive officer of the brand, has said that its e-commerce platform already contributes 5% of total sales and is looking to hit double figures in the near future, thanks to the recent launch of the site in the BRIC countries.
With a strong Latin identity, the brand is looking to target South America. Already present in Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Chili, Desigual has just opened its first office in Rio de Janeiro, adding to offices in New York, Toyko and Hong Kong. Two store openings are already scheduled for Sao Paulo and the brand has its eyes on Mexico as its next market to conquer.
Alongside the international expansion plan, the Barcelona-based brand is also working to improve its product offering. On June 21, the brand will present its first sportswear line at its Desigual Running Night event in its home town. The collection consists of 20 pairs of shoes and 30 clothing items that will be sold in sporting stores from December. Also in the pipelines is a Desigual fragrance.
