Destination Maternity adds Lisa Gavales to board
Maternity retailer Destination Maternity Corporation has appointed Lisa Gavales to its board of directors, effective immediately.
Gavales will now be a member of the firm’s nominating and corporate governance committee. Coinciding with the executive's addition to the board, the company also announced that current board member Holly Alden has resigned to pursue other interests, as of March 13.
Gavales comes to the company with over 25 years of leadership experience with a focus on retail, digital and strategic operations, e-commerce, corporate governance, and marketing. Most recently, she served as the interim chief executive officer and president of Bluestem Brands, a Minneapolis-based parent company to 13 e-commerce retail brands.
Prior to Bluestem, she held the role of chief executive officer and president of mall retailer Things Remembered, president and chief marketing officer of Talbots, and executive vice president, chief marketing officer and chief digital officer at Express, where she led the development of Express.com.
“We are very pleased to welcome [Gavales] to our board of directors and look forward to benefiting from her strong operational leadership experience and background in brand building, digital and e-commerce," said Anne-Charlotte Windal, Destination Maternity’s independent chair of the board.
"We believe [her] extensive experience will be highly valuable as the company continues to optimize its operations across brick-and-mortar and digital channels, improves profitability and rationalizes expenses."
In addition to Destination Maternity, Gavales currently sits on the boards of Bluestem, True Religion, and Goodwill of Greater Cleveland.
