French fashion house Dior opened its newest flagship store on Friday, March 18, in Miami’s Design District. The flagship offers women’s apparel and accessories and is the second Dior store in the District, the first being a Dior Homme boutique that opened in 2012.
The façade, designed by Barbarito Bancel Architectes, was inspired by the House’s spring/summer 2007 couture collection. The building is topped with a Dior star, a symbol of good luck for founder Christian Dior. Dior joins BVLGARI, Cartier, Christian Louboutin, Hermès, Givenchy, Chrome Hearts and Louis Vuitton, among many other luxury boutiques in the Miami Design District.
The concept of the Miami Design District, located in central Miami, began over 15 years ago by Craig Robins. As he acquired real estate in the area, Robins accepted designer brands as tenants, as well as important art collections and temporary design installations. Over the years, the District evolves with new design installations, new luxury boutiques and fine dining. A redesign of the streetscape and landscape by Island Planning Corp is also underway.
