Dove Men+Care celebrates 'everyday athletes' with new Sportcare campaign

Dove Men+Care is launching a new Sportcare line for active men, and who better to help the brand promote its new collection than Chris Paul, Sean Williams and Alvin Suarez?

The three new athletic ambassadors, however, are not the famous basketball, football and baseball players with whom they share their names -- they are, according to the Unilever-owned beauty giant, "everyday athletes."

"When we created a product line for athletes, we wanted to address the needs of every man who defines himself as one, not just those who have been elevated up the ranks of their sport," said Amy Stepanian, Marketing Director of Dove Men+Care for Unilever, in a statement. "We have signed on amazing athletes, who deserve the same level of praise and attention because of the way they show care, as any professional that might share their names."

Paul, who hails from San Diego, is a Marine Corps Veteran who stays active through running, biking and hiking to connect with other men and stay healthy for his kids. Williams, from Farmingville, NY, is a volunteer firefighter who founded the fitness-focused organization The Dad Gang, and Suarez, from New York, is a visuall- impaired father of two who plays Goalball, a sport that relies on ear-hand coordination.

To help shine the spotlight on these men, Dove Men+Care has recruited the ESPN anchor Kevin Negandhi. "While the majority of what we cover and discuss focuses on the few athletes who make it as pros, there are amazing stories to be told across the country, that often go uncovered," said the star. "The athletes of Sportcare prove that every athlete can inspire by showing extraordinary care."

The three men will front campaigns for the Sportcare line -- which comprises body wash, shampoo and deodorant products -- in addition to sharing their stories during marquee sports conferences.
