EBay made a new addition to its Innovation Team with the hiring of Fab.com and Bezar Founder, Bradford Shellhammer. The entrepreneur and creative announced the appointment via social media last week.
Shellhammer, who was named Head of Curation & Merchandising in February 2016, will focus on, “building new initiatives within the company, centered around telling stories, spotting trends, [and] curating unique goods,” according to Shellhammer. He will operate out of the company’s two offices in San Francisco and New York City.
He added in his social media post, “EBay has always been close to my heart and much of what inspired building Fab.com and Bezar was grounded in my decade’s old hunts for unique products on eBay (Grace Jones record, Eames shell chairs, Herman Miller picnic posters). So in a way it's sort of a homecoming to me, as eBay is the world’s biggest and best marketplace for people like me: passionate collectors searching for unique finds at amazing prices.”
Shellhammer founded Fab.com in 2010 and served as Chief Design Officer and Chief Creative Officer until November 2013. He also founded New York City-based e-commerce start-up, Bezar, and served as Chief Executive Officer. The entrepreneur also advises for AHAlife, the company that acquired Bezar in January 2016; serves on the advisory board of Shoppable, Simply Framed, Brit + Co and Heartwork, Inc.; and runs retail consultancy and design firm, Shellhammer.
