Eagerly awaited Levi's-Jordan collaboration takes off

Every new season brings a flurry of collaborations, and this could be one of those causing long queues outside a handful of specialist stores in the know. On 17th of January in fact, Levi's and Jordan are teaming up to launch a new take on two of their leading models, the Air Jordan IV shoes and the Levi's Trucker jacket. The collaboration between the two US casual/sportswear giants is in theory planned to be a seasonal one-off, so collectors be warned.

The Levi’s x Air Jordan IV shoes feature denim uppers and a label on the tongue that replicates the design of the jeans brand's world-renowned pocket label, as well as Jordan's Jumpman logo. As for the Trucker Reversible Levi’s x Jordan jacket, its denim exterior is enhanced by red taffeta sleeve inserts. The lining is in black wrinkled taffeta, and the jacket is complemented by a denim collar and a Jumpman Flight logo on the back.

"The shoes and jacket have much in common: the same denim fabric, the same colours, the same yarn and weight. I love the idea of reinterpreting a performance sports item by infusing it with our authentic heritage. It's something both directional and original," said Steven Burns, Creative Director for men's trousers at Levi’s.

The shoes and jacket will be available at selected Levi's and Jordan stores in major cities worldwide. They will also be distributed via a limited number of edgy retailers, such as Shinzo and Opium in Paris.

Pro skateboarder Eric Koston triggered the buzz on Instagram - Eric Koston

Ahead of the launch, the collaboration is generating quite a buzz, fuelled by urban-culture celebs. On 8th January, US pro skateboarder Eric Koston posted a pic of his Levi’s Air Jordan IV on Instagram, fresh off a skateboarding session, picking up 37,000-plus page views and more than 700 comments.
