Ebay launches sneakerhead activation ahead of NBA All-Star Game

Published
Feb 16, 2019

Ebay is reminding consumers of its foundational role in the world of sneaker and street style marketplaces with the launch of its All-Star Weekend Drop activation, where a flurry of exclusive deals will be topped off by a series of 23 limited-time drops, all centered around the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Starting Friday, shoppers can visit Ebay’s dedicated storefront at eBay.com/AllStarDrop to access popular sneaker releases, streetwear and basketball memorabilia, in addition to “rare and game-worn grails,” the company said. Notably, the 23 rare and exclusive sneaker drops, which will launch on Saturday, February 16, and include items like Air Jordan Retro 6 Infrareds, the Supreme Dragon Work Jacket, and Nike Fear of God SAs in black and slate, will offer prices that are all under retail market value.

Additionally, a range of rare shoes from LA-based Sole Stage and one-of-one pairs will also be available courtesy of collectors Jordy Geller of ShoeZeum and sneakerhead Chad Jones, otherwise known as Sneaker Galactus.

The activation kicks off today with the release of a never-before-seen collection of Jordan 1s and the entire Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection, in addition to the release of a range of coveted grail items and the launch of a weekend-long 20% off sale on Adidas, Puma, Reebok, Asics and New Balance sneakers.

In order to further promote the activation, Ebay has collaborated with the likes of NBA player P.J. Tucker, sneakerhead Jacques Slade, artist Kickstradomis and stylist Aleali May, all of whom will contribute pieces from their personal collections to Ebay’s “All-Star lineup” of items. Part of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to the non-profit Project Fit.

All-Star lineup picks include an autographed NBA basketball signed by the entire Houston Rockets team from Tucker, Jordan x Converse Pack from Slade, 2006 Air Force 1 Low from May, and Kickstradomis’ custom “Ricky Rubio” autographed shoes, among others.

Ahead of the activation debut, Ebay celebrated All-Star weekend in Charlotte with HighSnobiety, where the two unveiled “The Vault,” a pop-up that featured a Jordan Retrospective, VIP appearances, and opportunities to pre-shop the drop.
