Canadian fashion house École de Pensée has inaugurated its first flagship store in its home city of Montreal.

The 1800-square-foot boutique, located on the recently-renovated Laurier West Avenue, officially opened in October and houses the menswear brand’s seasonal and permanent collections, as well as store exclusive pieces.

Alongside the contemporary brand’s clean unconstructed men’s garments, which it has become known for since launching in 2014, shoppers can equally find everyday essentials like knits and a complete selection of fine half-canvas suits and jackets.

Finally, a curated selection of accessories and home objects from European and Japanese labels round-out the store offering.

Footwear from brands like Tricker’s, and Kleman and Reproduction of Found, as well as homeware from the ceramist Hasami Porcelain, and apothecary from Frama and more, complement École de Pensée’s vision regarding the art of living.

Most of the brands that now share the space were discovered by École de Pensée while traveling and “share the same commitment to quality and design,” the company said in a news statement.

Meanwhile, the boutique, entirely designed by École de Pensée designers - William Lessard, Marc-André Garand et Julien Gauthier – mimics an apartment-inspired décor with geometrical concrete structures, metallic rackings and Danish furniture originally created by designers such as Finn Juhl and Poul Cadovius.

To help create the apartment like feel, the designers themselves put some 250 hours of work into finalizing the worn-out wall texture found throughout the store.

Besides its new address, the brand is sold internationally through wholesale partnerships in Japan, the U.S. and France, with their collections presented each season in New York and Paris. It has equally been available in the Designer collections at La Maison Simons for the past four seasons, in Montreal.
