Eddie Bauer and actor, Ryan Reynolds announced The One Tree Initiative to benefit American Forests. With the launch of the initiative, Eddie Bauer pledges its continued support of American Forests’ mission to protect and restore forest ecosystems around the world.
Since the start of the partnership between Eddie Bauer and American Forests, the company has helped plant more than 6.5 million trees.
The Seattle-based company launched its partnership with American Forests in 1995 with the “Add a Dollar, Plant a Tree” project where the brand plants a tree every time a customer chooses to add a dollar to their purchase. 100% of the funds collected goes to American Forests’ reforestation project in the US and Canada.
Deadpool star, Reynolds was named Eddie Bauer’s philanthropic ambassador in November 2015 with the planting of American Forests’ 50 millionth tree in San Bernardino Mountains. The two companies pledged to plant 20,000 additional trees in the San Bernardino Mountains in 2016.
"The One Tree Initiative recognizes that one person and one dollar can impact the future of our forests," says Mike Egeck, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eddie Bauer. "This campaign reminds us that we can all play a role in preserving the beauty of nature, and even a small donation to American Forest can make big impact in protecting our forests for future generations to come."
The specialty retailer is one of several companies that hold sustainability in very high importance. Companies like Puma, H&M and G-Star Raw among others practice environmentally sustainable practices that lessen its carbon footprint, protect the animals and try to protect and maintain the environment.
The company also announced that during Earth Week in April, it will match the customer donations under The One Tree Initiative, giving one tree for every dollar up to 75,000 trees.
