Elie Saab continues to extend the reach of his haute couture brand. The Lebanese designer's luxury label has already introduced lines of bridal wear, fashion accessories, eyewear and perfumes, and has now entered the furniture and home decoration segment, developing a collection with Swiss company Corporate Brand Maison (CBM).

The licence agreement with the latter has been defined as “long-term,” and also includes projects for the hotel industry.

“We are very proud of having become part of the world of Elie Saab, developing for him a series of projects in the fields of interior design, the hotel industry and furniture and home accessories,” said Massimiliano Ferrari, president of CBM.

The first collection of Elie Saab furniture will be presented at the 2020 edition of the Milan Furniture Fair.

Saab defined CBM as the “ideal partner” for developing “timeless furniture and home accessories collections, as well as interior design projects that best embody [the label’s] DNA.”

He added that “developing a home decoration collection was a natural progression for the label,” turning Elie Saab into a fully fledged lifestyle brand.

The first step in this partnership was taken last spring, with the interior design of the Emaar BeachFront residential complex in Dubai.

CBM’s architect Carlo Colombo is in charge of translating Elie Saab’s vision into a collection of living room, dining room and bedroom furniture and lighting fixtures -- all of them inspired by the haute couture label’s design style: natural shapes in a palette of soft hues; pastel tones and light greys; made distinctive by dazzling details in stainless steel, bronze, marble; and other rare stones, as indicated in a press release.

Elie Saab was launched in 1982, when the eponymous Lebanese designer, now 55, was only 18. It is now distributed via nearly 200 multi-brand retailers and nine monobrand stores worldwide.

Saab lives between his Beirut home, the Lebanese mountains, Switzerland and France, and has been showing his haute couture and ready-to-wear collections in Paris for over ten years.

Saab first came to international fame in 2002, when U.S. actress Halle Berry wore an Elie Saab gown to receive the Academy Award for Best Actress, for her performance in the Marc Forster movie ‘Monster’s Ball’.
