Elizabeth and James open their first ever brick and mortar flagship in LA's The Grove.
The label, owned by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, features the twins' contemporary fashion taste. The LA flagship features a premium experience of apparel and Japanese inspired accessories curated by the twins.
The flagship at The Grove is located in the old Johnny Was location. It was co-designed by David Montalba of Montalba Architects in addition to the Olsen's design and style input favoring vintage California and Japanese influences.
“Mary-Kate and I have always viewed Elizabeth and James as a lifestyle brand and are excited to finally share our vision for the ‘world of Elizabeth and James,’” said Ashley.
The space itself is 1,200 square feet. It debuts the Fall 2016 ready to wear collection from Elizabeth and James as well as jewelry and fragrance. In addition, kimonos and other vintage tees from LA's famed vintage shop Spanish Moss add to the boho chic vibe.
Walls and floors are painted white, and fixtures are marble and pale wood, giving the space a clean look. Merchandising is eclectic, helping tell the brand's story.
Mary-Kate said, “Storytelling is important to us and was the foundation for our design vision. We curated the space to create a welcoming environment for our customer."
Noteworthy merchandising props in the store include a vintage edition of Jack Kerouac's Big Sur and black and white ink drawings of Kikkoman soy sauce bottles.
The new Elizabeth and James flagship joins the Olsen's LA flagship of their upscale line, The Row, which opened on Melrose in 2014.
