Estée Lauder expands board to 17 with two new female directors

Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced on Monday that Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Tejada have been elected to its board of directors, taking the New York cosmetic firm's board count to 17.

Jennifer Hyman, co-founder and chief executive officer of Rent the Runway -- a luxury fashion and accessories rental service -- and Jennifer Tejada, chief executive officer of Californian cloud computing firm, PagerDuty, will join the Estée Lauder board, effective April 16.

All current members of the board will retain their director roles, taking the group to 17, with eight now being women.

“Ms. Hyman brings her very impressive creativity and know-how in the worlds of entrepreneurship, disruptive retail, the millennial consumer and omni-channel," said William P. Lauder, executive chairman, adding that Tejada "has tremendous experience in digital, mobile, software and consumer goods."

Hyman founded Rent the Runway in 2009, which runs on-demand rental consumption and a subscription service. In eight years, she has grown the business to nine million members, a well as 1,200 employees and some 500 designer brands.

Tejada founded PagerDuty, digital operations management platform for business, also in 2009. Under her leadership, the firm has doubled revenues, grown its customer portfolio to over 10,000 businesses, including half of the Fortune 100, and expanded into key international markets such as Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

Before PagerDuty, Tejada was president and CEO of Keynote Systems, a software company specializing in performance analytics.

"These backgrounds and experiences will allow our new directors to provide valuable, practical perspectives to our board as our company continues to grow by offering innovative products and experiences for our global consumers," concluded Lauder, in a press release.
