Etsy launches Etsy Studio

Etsy announced on Tuesday that it is gearing up to launch Etsy Studio, the company’s first new market since Etsy.com debuted in 2005.

The new online marketplace will allow users to sell craft supplies and tools creators may need to bring their projects to life. Unlike Etsy’s forerunner, which focuses on selling finished handmade items such as jewelry and baby clothes.

“Craft supplies have long been a part of Etsy and, through conversations with buyers and sellers, Etsy learned a lot about the unique challenges of selling and shopping for items within this category,” Etsy said in a news statement.

Etsy Studio will launch this April with nearly eight million items categorized in a shopping experience tailored specifically to the needs of DIY shoppers. Shoppers will be able to browse craft supplies based on size, color, material, shape, weight, and more.

Etsy Studio will equally feature how-tos, DIYs, and inspirational content for users.

What’s more, Etsy will also roll out a new Shop Manager feature, allowing Etsy sellers to better manage their online storefront from a single location.
