Express appoints Karen Leever as new Independent Director of the Board

Express announced on Wednesday the appointment of Karen Leever to its Board of Directors as a Class III director. The appointment increases the size of the Board from six to seven directors.

 
Leever has held a variety of leadership roles in digital media, marketing, product development, direct sales and operations in media and retail. She currently serves as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media at Discovery Communications, and she has worked at Directv for 10 years, Kmart, and spent over a decade in electronic television retailing at HSN and QVC.

The specialty retailer’s sales have been flat this year and as a result adjusted its full year expectations. For the second quarter, Express expects its comparable sales to be in the negative mid single digits and its full year comparable sales to be in range of negative mid to low single digits.
