The Falke Group has appointed Martin Winkler as its new Chairman of the Management Board and CEO. The 48-year-old executive joins the German knitwear and hosiery manufacturer following a tenure at LG Electronics, where he last served as chief operating officer (COO) and led consumer business in Germany. Prior to that, he spent ten years in various senior marketing and sales positions for the Sony Group. Winkler is taking over the reins from Uwe Bergheim, who is retiring.

The Falke Group's HQ in Schmallenberg, Germany is very satisfied to have recruited the marketing and sales specialist. The company hopes to leverage Winkler's managerial skills to lead Falke's strategic focus and advance the international expansion of the Falke and Burlington brands. 

“His excellent know-how in highly innovative consumer electronics, as well as IT and mobile communications markets are very good prerequisites for further developing our company in the complex environment of digitalization," commented the general managers and major shareholders Franz-Peter and Paul Falke. 

Falke reported sales of around 222 million euros for its fiscal year 2014, 44 percent of which was generated abroad. The group employs some 3,366 personal at the headquarters in Schmallenberg, and facilities in Dorfchemnitz, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, South Africa and Serbia.
