Founded by Katia Barros and Marcello Bastos in 1997, and since 2010 attached to the Brazilian group Grupo Soma which includes the brands of ready-to-wear Hering, Animale, Maria Filò, Fábula and Foxton, the Brazilian brand Farm Rio advocates femininity in a colorful and vibrant spirit, faithful to the spirit of Rio de Janeiro. A style that now wants to please Angelenos with the opening of a first boutique in the Venice district.

Farm Rio has just opened its new store in Venice, Los Angeles

First launched in an independent market in Rio, the Babylonia Feira Hype, the Farm Rio brand has been trying to conquer the American market for a few years. A challenge marked by the opening in 2019 of a first flagship in New York, at 113 Prince Street in the Soho district, followed by a second store in Miami, and several pop-up organized in Montawk and then in Los Angeles, within the Beverly Grove shopping center in 2021.

Also present in several department stores like Saks and Neiman Marcus, Farm Rio is now in Venice, in a small house located at 1326 Abbott Kinney Boulevard, the former address where Joe's Jeans and Robert Graham, the men's ready-to-wear brand, used to be. A space of 1900 square feet where one can find the essentials of the Farm Rio collections.

In an immaculate white decor, with straw umbrellas and surfboards, Farm Rio presents on its racks mini and maxi dresses, kimonos and colored blouses and tropical patchwork prints, with motifs of flowers, ferns, palm trees and pineapples, crocheted tops and cardigans and denim shorts. A collection that celebrates, according to its founders, "the Brazilian culture".

On the central displays, Farm Rio offers a collection of scarves, a selection of lifestyle items from hats to earrings, sunglasses, gourds, sandals, raffia mules, slippers, sneakers and beautiful books.

The brand, which now has 75 stores in Brazil and two more in the United States, hopes to continue its development in the North American and global markets. It is currently holding a pop-up in London at the Liberty store and a temporary corner at the Bon Marché in Paris. Used to collaborations, Farm Rio has signed with Havaïnas, Adidas, Levi's, Yawanawa and distributes a hundred models each year in Anthropologie stores.

Manufactured mainly in Turkey, Morocco and Portugal, the Farm Rio collections now account for almost half of Grupo Soma's sales, its most profitable brand. Despite the fact that production is carried out abroad, Farm Rio is committed to eco-responsibility by signing a partnership with the association One Tree Planted which, for each purchase made, allows a tree to be planted in the Amazon forest.
