Fashion and sport retailers make Corporate Knights 2016 Corporate Citizens list

Corporate Knights a media and research company which produces corporate rankings has announced their 2016 list of the 50 best Corporate Citizens in Canada.
 
Canadian retailers Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) and the Hudson's Bay Company were among the winners of the 2016 ranking, which is awarded to companies that demonstrate a dedication to social responsibility and sustainability.

 
The best corporate citizens of Canada winners are selected based on 12 key performance indicators covering resource, employee and financial management.
 
Mountain Equipment Co-op earned an overall score of 57 percent this year and took the 17 spot. This is a 7 percent decrease from last year’s ratings where the outdoor recreation gear and clothing retailer came in at number 3.

The Hudson's Bay Company earned an overall score of 48 percent, and moved up to the 43 spot on the ranking, 7 spots better than last year where it came in at number 50.
 
Other companies on the list included banks, airlines, telecommunications and more.   
The Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada ranking is compiled each year by Corporate Knights.
